Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged doctors in Bangladesh to allocate more time to research in medical science instead of solely focusing on private practice for financial gain.

"We are lacking in one area, and that is medical science research. Doctors are primarily focused on practicing and earning money, neglecting research," she remarked.

The prime minister distributed cheques for the "Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship," "National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship," and special research grants to teachers, scientists, researchers, and students from various universities at the Prime Minister's Office, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.Addressing the doctors directly, she emphasized the importance of prioritizing research.

"Research is crucial for ensuring the health and strength of our people and providing them with opportunities to flourish. Therefore, doctors must allocate more time to research," she urged.She announced a special stimulus package for those involved in health-related research and encouraged doctors in public service to reduce their private practice and focus more on research.

The prime minister assured full government support to encourage research activities, citing the success of research in the agricultural sector, which led to food self-sufficiency in the country.

"We must prioritize science and health-related research, as research is the key to development," she emphasized.She reiterated the government's commitment to removing obstacles in research and emphasized the responsible use of public funds for the welfare of the people.

Regarding the construction of the second nuclear power plant, she explained the challenges faced due to soft soil in the southern region but expressed determination to proceed with the project after completing the Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant.
