Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid, the chief of the Detective Branch (DB), stated on Sunday that detectives are currently probing the potential involvement of banned organizations at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

Addressing reporters at his office on Mintu Road in the capital, he indicated that investigations are underway to ascertain if any outlawed groups have been active during the recent events at Buet.

"We are examining whether any banned organization played a role in the recent activities at Buet. Our team is present there, conducting an investigation into the incident, and appropriate legal action will be taken accordingly," he asserted.

Harun-Or-Rashid clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with the ongoing movement at Buet thus far.

The controversy arose when some Buet students alleged that members of the Chhatra League entered the campus around 1 am on Wednesday. Despite the ban on student politics, these individuals reportedly engaged in political activities, prompting outrage among the student body.

In response, the students presented a six-point demand to the Buet administration on Saturday, declaring their intention to boycott all academic activities, including weekend examinations, until their demands are addressed.

Concurrently, the university administration has revoked the hall seat of one student amidst the unfolding situation.
