"It is very sad but true that it has been done," and that the report was made with complete disinformation
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat criticized Transparency International Bangladesh's (TIB) research report on the most recent national election on Thursday, stating that the report's assertion is nonsensical and does not adhere to international norms.
Speaking to reporters in the capital's secretariat's conference room, he made the comments.
"The researchers for this study have never done any research before. They haven't had any study published in foreign publications, he claimed.
The state minister claimed that the TIB report went beyond "scientific misconduct" and that they are lying to the public in an attempt to mislead them.
"I believe the civil society of Bangladesh will conduct research following international standards with honesty and sincerity and present its findings before the people," he stated.
Arafat claimed the Election Commission took measures and even filed proceedings against those who broke the electoral code of conduct, referring to the TIB's report as its own opinion.
"Efforts were made to weaken the mindset by spreading lies, rather than highlighting the EC's strict position against irregularities," he stated of the study.
"Let them send research to an international standard journal; they won't publish it. I can and will challenge the TIB." The state minister declared, "I will acknowledge that they have done their research if they publish it.
"I can state with absolute certainty that it will not be accepted as research, much less published, in any journal of international standing. Since it didn't adhere to any international criteria," Arafat claimed.
The state minister added, "It is very sad but true that it has been done," and that the report was made with complete disinformation.
He stated, casting doubt on the researchers' experience.
He claimed that none of the participants in the so-called research had any background in political science or elections. The majority of them have never published in a foreign journal.
