Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, swore in Abu Bakar Siddique Shyamol, the newly elected chairman of the Lalmonirhat Zilla Parishad, and urged the public representatives to strive towards meeting the aspirations of the people.
She was reported by Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon as stating, "Remember the needs of the people and work to fulfil their expectations accordingly," during the oath-taking ceremony at her office.
Moon stated in a press conference that in order to fulfil accountability, the prime minister also placed a strong focus on local coordination.
Md. Tazul Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, and M. Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Principal Secretary of the PM, attended the PMO swearing-in event.
The event was organised by Muhammad Ibrahim, Secretary of the Local Government Division.
The Lalmonirhat Zilla Parishad Chairman by-election, which took place on April 3, was won by Abu Bakar Siddique Shyamol.
