Dhaka, 25 July - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the Mirpur-10 metro rail station, which was recently subjected to extensive vandalism and looting amid the violence surrounding the quota reform movement. The visit took place after 9 a.m. on Thursday.

During her visit, the Prime Minister condemned the destruction and urged the citizens of Bangladesh to hold accountable those responsible for the damage. "The countrymen must stand up against those who have done such harm," she stated, expressing disbelief that such damage was inflicted by fellow citizens.

Prime Minister Hasina highlighted how terrorists exploited the students' movement to carry out acts of sabotage. She noted the significance of the metro rail project, which was completed ahead of schedule to alleviate commuting challenges for the public. She questioned the rationale behind the outrage that led to the destruction of a facility intended to improve the quality of life for many.

In her remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for unity and vigilance among the people to prevent such destructive activities in the future, criticizing attacks on infrastructure that provide essential services to the public.
