Dhaka, July 24 — The Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, announced on Thursday night that the curfew imposed due to widespread unrest from the quota reform movement will be relaxed from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. This applies to Dhaka metropolis, Dhaka district, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, and Gazipur districts. The decision regarding other districts will be made by the respective district administrations.

The minister mentioned that prayers will be held in mosques across the country on Friday and in churches on Sunday in memory of those who lost their lives during the conflict. He also assured that the curfew will be gradually relaxed as the situation normalizes.

The curfew, initially imposed last Friday at midnight, was accompanied by the deployment of the army nationwide to support the civil administration. Since then, the curfew hours have been incrementally extended

This progressive easing of curfew hours has been in response to the ongoing disturbances related to the quota reform movement, which led to extensive vandalism and violence across the country. As a result, public life is gradually returning to normal, with increased movement and participation in work.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely, with the aim of restoring peace and order while ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
