Dhaka, August 2- The anti-discrimination student movement held a series of mass rallies across the capital on Friday, August 2, as part of their pre-announced program. Protestors, including members of the public, gathered at multiple locations, including Baitul Mokarram National Mosque and the Sciencelab area, to voice their demands.

The protestors initiated their march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram following Friday prayers. The procession proceeded through key points such as Paltan Mor and the Press Club, and attempted to enter the Dhaka University area. However, they were stopped by police, leading to a brief confrontation. The demonstrators chanted slogans condemning the killing of students and then returned to the Press Club.

Simultaneously, a demonstration was held in the Sciencelab area, attracting participation from diverse groups, including teachers and parents. The rally included various slogans and a march through the surrounding roads, which eventually culminated back at Sciencelab, causing a temporary halt in traffic.

The presence of police and government organizations at both rally points underscored the tension surrounding the protests. The standoff in Sciencelab, with students, police, and government bodies all maintaining positions, created a stalemate situation.

The anti-discrimination student movement continues to draw significant public attention, as the protesters demand accountability and justice for the recent killings of students. The day's events highlighted the growing support from various segments of society and the ongoing friction between demonstrators and law enforcement.
