Dhaka, August 7— Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the interim government will take place on Thursday, August 8, at 8 PM. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the army headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

General Waqar-uz-Zaman confirmed that Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus has agreed to lead the interim government. "Dr. Yunus will return to Bangladesh tomorrow. I will personally receive him at the airport. We anticipate the swearing-in of the interim government to occur at 8 PM," he stated.

Addressing ongoing civil unrest, the army chief assured that those responsible for causing anarchy will be held accountable under the law. He predicted that the situation in the country would stabilize within three to four days.

General Waqar-uz-Zaman also warned against the spread of rumors, which he said could lead to further unrest and negatively impact the army's morale. He urged the public to avoid listening to or spreading such misinformation. "Special security measures are being implemented in key zones to maintain order," he added.

Regarding law enforcement reforms, the army chief noted that efforts are underway to restore the police force's effectiveness and morale. "A new police chief has been appointed, and I am confident that these changes will reinvigorate the police. The armed forces remain committed to standing with and supporting the people of Bangladesh," he concluded.

The upcoming swearing-in marks a significant step towards restoring constitutional order and addressing the recent political upheaval following Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure.
