Dhaka, July 06 (V7N) — On the occasion of the holy Ashura, Shia mourners participated in various processions across the capital on Sunday. The largest procession began from the Hussaini Dalan area in Old Dhaka at around 10 am.

Carrying banners, placards, and mourning flags, the procession proceeded from Imambara through Azimpur, New Market, and Science Lab, finally reaching Mohammadpur. Simultaneously, a similar procession started from Mohammadpur.

Participants urged that mourning be transformed into strength and called for standing against injustice by following the teachings of Imam Hussain and Imam Hasan.

It is important to remember that Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was martyred on 10 Muharram in the desert of Karbala fighting against the army of Yazid. On the same day, Imam Hasan (RA) was poisoned and died as part of a conspiracy.
