DHAKA, July 6,  (V7N) – Bangladesh has recorded 317 new cases of dengue in the past 24 hours, with the majority of patients reported in healthcare facilities across the southwestern Barishal region.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement, 127 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, which appears to be the most affected area by the mosquito-borne disease.

Of the remaining cases, 70 patients were admitted in Chattogram division, 52 in Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 22 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 26 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 13 in Khulna, and 7 in Mymensingh division.

Since the beginning of the year, Bangladesh has seen 45 dengue-related deaths and a total of 12,271 reported cases.

The DGHS also reported that 325 patients have been discharged from various hospitals nationwide after recovering from the illness. In comparison, last year's dengue outbreak claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people across the country.
