Dhaka, August 9— Following the swearing-in ceremony, the new interim government led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has officially distributed the responsibilities for various ministries and departments. A notification from the Cabinet Department on Friday confirmed the allocation of offices.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will personally oversee 27 ministries and departments, which include some of the most critical sectors in the government. His portfolio covers the Cabinet Department, Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces Department, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Ministry of Land, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
The newly appointed advisers have also been assigned significant roles:
Saleh Uddin Ahmed will manage the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Asif Nazrul has been given the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Adilur Rahman Khan will head the Ministry of Industries. Hasan Arif will take charge of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives. Tauhid Hossain has been assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Syeda Rizwana Hasan will oversee the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. Sharmin S. Murshid has been appointed to manage the Ministry of Social Welfare. Brigadier General (Retired) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain has taken on the critical role of managing the Ministry of Home Affairs. Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain will oversee the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Farida Akhtar has been assigned the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. Nurjahan Begum will head the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Nahid Islam is responsible for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan will manage the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The interim government, which was formed following the recent political changes in the country, is expected to play a crucial role in steering Bangladesh through a transitional period until the next general elections.
