Dhaka, August 18 — The interim government is currently reluctant to implement another increase in electricity prices, according to Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, the Electricity and Energy Advisor. In a briefing held at the secretariat on Sunday evening, he emphasized that any future decisions regarding electricity pricing will be taken only after extensive discussions with all relevant parties and a public hearing.

Khan stated that the interim government is committed to aligning its actions with the expectations of the general public. He assured that efforts will be made to enhance customer service in the electricity sector and to adopt cost-saving measures when purchasing electricity in the future.

Addressing the ongoing gas crisis, the advisor mentioned that a timeline has been set for resolving the issue. He also highlighted that the government will carefully assess the situation before making any decisions regarding quick rental power plants.

Furthermore, Khan underlined that the government's actions will be guided by public expectations, and that domestic and international contracts in the energy sector will undergo thorough review to ensure they meet the current needs and priorities of the nation.
