Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) - The interim government has announced plans to establish a "Foundation" dedicated to supporting the wounded and the families of those who lost their lives or were injured during the student-led revolution in July-August 2024.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will lead the Foundation, which will comprise several Advisers of the Interim Government, student representatives, and family members of the victims.

The specific details and operational framework of the Foundation will be released soon, as stated by the Chief Adviser’s press wing. Both citizens and the Bangladeshi diaspora are encouraged to contribute to this initiative.

"We can never forget the contributions of the students and individuals who sacrificed their lives or were grievously wounded during the protests against dictatorship," Professor Muhammad Yunus remarked on Tuesday.

He emphasized, "It is my duty and our national duty to stand by their side. We will do whatever is necessary to provide proper care for the wounded and the families of the deceased as quickly as possible."

Yunus added that arrangements are already underway to address their medical and family needs, with specific government departments and officials being tasked with overseeing these efforts.
