Dhaka, August 25 — Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) emphasized the need for acceptable reforms in the Bangladesh Police to foster positive changes in policing. He made these comments during an exchange of views with officials at the police headquarters on Sunday.

Lt. Gen. Chowdhury stated that the goal of the reforms is to transform the police from a force into a service that is people-friendly. He stressed the importance of eradicating corruption within the force, stating, "No exemption will be given in case of corruption. Corruption must be prevented at any cost." He also highlighted that Bangladesh Police is an orderly force, and there will be no leniency in cases of indiscipline.

During the meeting, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam briefed the Home Affairs Advisor on the current challenges facing the police and outlined future plans. Senior officials in attendance also presented various proposals for improving police operations and effectiveness.
