Dhaka, September 03 — Donald Lu, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, is set to visit Dhaka in mid-September as part of a delegation, according to multiple media reports. The delegation will also include other senior officials, such as Brent Neiman, Assistant Under Secretary for International Finance at the US Department of Revenue and Treasury, and Lindsay Ford, Senior Director of the National Security Council.

This visit marks Lu's first trip to Dhaka since the interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, took charge following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. Lu's previous visit to Dhaka was in May, prior to the change in government.

The primary purpose of this visit is to engage with the interim government to discuss future courses of action and strengthen bilateral relations between the United States and Bangladesh. The discussions are expected to focus on several key areas, including political stability, economic cooperation, and regional security.

Sources indicate that the US delegation will arrive in Dhaka ahead of the Chief Adviser's participation in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) scheduled for later this month.
