Dhaka, Dec 10 (V7N)- Gold prices in the domestic market have dropped for the second time within a week, following a downturn in the global market. The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) reduced gold prices by Tk 1,050 per bhori on Tuesday (December 2). The newly adjusted rates have come into effect from Wednesday (December 10).
According to BAJUS, the price of 22-carat gold has decreased to Tk 2,11,095 per bhori, down from Tk 2,11,145 the previous day.
In the latest price chart:
- 22-carat gold: Tk 2,11,095 per bhori
- 21-carat gold: Tk 2,01,496 per bhori (previously Tk 2,02,499)
- 18-carat gold: Tk 1,72,709 per bhori (previously Tk 1,73,572)
- Traditional gold: Tk 1,43,689 per bhori (previously Tk 1,44,424)
BAJUS has stated that all jewelry stores across the country must follow these rates until further notice.
The association also clarified that the government-imposed 5% VAT and the BAJUS-set minimum making charge of 6% will be added to the selling price. However, the making charge may vary depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewelry.
This latest price adjustment comes amid volatility in the international bullion market, which continues to influence gold prices in Bangladesh.
