NETRAKONA, Sept 9 (V7N) — Police have arrested a third-year honours student of the Geology Department at Netrakona Government College over allegations of taking money from local residents on the promise of arranging Family Cards.
The woman, identified as Saida Sadia Islam, was arrested by police at around Tuesday evening (Sept 8), according to police and local sources. She is reportedly the organising secretary of the Netrakona district unit of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
Abul Khair, officer-in-charge of Netrakona Model Police Station, said local residents in the Kurpar area detained Sadia and handed her over to police after accusing her of collecting money from people by promising to arrange Family Cards for them.
Police said preparations were underway to file a case over the incident.
The allegations against Sadia have not yet been proven in court.
