Dhaka, Jan 03 (V7N)- The curtain has risen on the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) as Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin formally inaugurated the event on Saturday (January 3). Prominent business leaders and representatives from various industries were present at the opening ceremony.
The paper and packaging industry has been declared the Product of the Year for 2026, highlighting its growing importance in trade, sustainability, and industrial development.
The month-long fair is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). This year, e-ticketing has been introduced to facilitate smooth entry for visitors. A total of 324 pavilions and stalls of different categories have been allocated in line with the approved layout plan.
In line with environmental protection measures, the use of polythene bags and single-use plastics has been banned at the fair. As an alternative, environmentally friendly shopping bags will be made available to visitors at a reduced price.
To ease transportation for visitors, more than 200 dedicated BRTC shuttle buses will operate daily from Kuril Bishwa Road, Farmgate, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi to the fair venue starting from 8:00 am.
Earlier, the inauguration of the Dhaka International Trade Fair was scheduled for January 1. However, following the government’s declaration of three days of national mourning over the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the opening date was postponed to January 3.
The Dhaka International Trade Fair remains one of the country’s largest commercial events, showcasing local and international products while promoting trade, investment, and industrial growth.
