Dhaka, Jan 23 (V7N) — After a brief decrease, the price of gold has surged again in the domestic market, reaching an all-time high. According to a notification by Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) on Friday afternoon, 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) is now priced at 2,55,617 taka, an increase of 6,299 taka from the previous rate.
The new price took effect from 12:15 pm on Friday, breaking all previous records for gold in the country.
Bajus noted that the price of pure gold had briefly fallen, but after evaluating the overall market conditions, the organization decided on the new rate. In addition to 22-carat gold, the new prices for other types are:

The organization also reminded buyers that a 5 percent government VAT and a 6 percent minimum wage set by Bajus are added to the final selling price, which may vary based on the design and quality of jewelry.
Earlier, on the night of January 22, Bajus had reduced the price of 22-carat gold to 249,318 taka per bhori, but the rate remained in effect for less than half a day before the latest increase.
In 2026 so far, gold prices have been adjusted 12 times, with 9 increases and 3 decreases, while in 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 decreases.
