Dhaka, May 07 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the price of jet fuel used in aircraft by Tk 22 per litre, following a series of earlier sharp increases in recent months.
The new pricing decision was announced on Thursday (May 7) and came into effect from midnight.
Under the revised structure, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been reduced from Tk 227.08 to Tk 205.45 per litre. For international flights, the price has been lowered from USD 1.4806 to USD 1.3385 per litre (excluding duty and VAT).
Earlier this year, jet fuel prices saw multiple upward revisions, rising significantly from Tk 94.93 per litre in January to Tk 227.08 in April.
Officials noted that global fuel market instability contributed to the earlier price hikes. Disruptions in international supply chains, reportedly linked to geopolitical tensions and conflicts affecting oil transport routes, had pushed global fuel prices higher in recent months.
BERC stated that the latest reduction reflects adjustments in the international market and aims to ease operational pressure on the aviation sector.
