Dhaka, Nov 05 (V7N) — Thousands of people from across Bangladesh gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday morning for a rally organized by Olama Mashayekh Bangladesh. The event commenced at 9 AM and was scheduled to conclude at 1 PM, drawing a significant turnout of madrasa students from various districts.

Participants began arriving early, and by the start of the conference, Suhrawardy Udyan was filled to capacity. The rally, organized by followers of the late Maulana Jubairul Hasan, stands in opposition to Maulana Mohammad Saad Kandhalvi of the Tablighi Jamaat. During the event, speakers emphasized that this year’s Bishwa Ijtima would be held once instead of twice, asserting that supporters of Saad would not be permitted to enter the Ijtima ground or Kakrail Mosque.

As the rally unfolded, Dhaka experienced heavy traffic congestion across several key areas. Reports indicated significant delays near the Dhaka Elevated Expressway's exit ramp, as well as in Mogbazar, Farmgate, Nilkhet, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, Kakrail, and Gulistan.

Students at Dhaka University also reported severe traffic issues since early morning, further complicating the commute for many in the capital. Authorities are advising residents to plan their travel routes carefully as the city grapples with the aftermath of this large gathering.
