Gazipur, Nov 09 (V7N)- Garment Workers Protest in Gazipur, Blocking Roads Over Unpaid Salaries and Bonuses

The workers, employed by TN Jet Group Ltd., voiced frustration over months of unpaid wages and bonuses, citing their inability to buy food or pay rent. Many protesters expressed that their families are in dire financial straits, adding to their determination to continue the blockade until their demands are met.

As traffic came to a standstill, people from distant areas resorted to walking toward their destinations. Upon receiving reports of the roadblock, Basan Police arrived on the scene, attempting to negotiate with the workers. However, the protestors remained resolute, stating they would not leave until their overdue payments were secured.

One protesting worker shared, “We haven’t been paid for three months. Our families are struggling. We will continue this movement until we receive what we are owed.”

The workers’ protest underscores ongoing challenges within the garment industry, where wage delays have impacted workers’ livelihoods, prompting demonstrations as they seek immediate redress.
