Dhaka, Feb 16 (V7N) – Dismissed assistant teachers of primary schools in Dhaka and Chittagong divisions have continued their protest at Shahbagh for the 11th consecutive day, demanding re-appointment after their recruitment was canceled by the High Court.

Gathering in front of the National Museum at 10 AM on Sunday, the protesting teachers alleged that 6,531 candidates, who had successfully passed the three-stage recruitment process, were finalized for appointment. However, on February 2, their appointments were nullified by the High Court following a writ petition.

Since the court ruling, the dismissed teachers have been relentless in their demonstrations, vowing to remain on the streets until they receive assurance of re-appointment.

Authorities have attempted to disperse the protest several times. Police used water cannons, sound grenades, and lathi charges on Monday and Thursday in an effort to break up the sit-in. However, the protesters remain determined, stating they will not leave until their demands are met.

The protest continues to draw attention as the dismissed teachers fight for their rightful employment, urging the government to intervene and resolve the crisis.
