Dhaka, Feb 20 (V7N) – Multiple layers of security have been put in place around Central Shaheed Minar ahead of International Mother Language Day on February 21, ensuring a safe and orderly tribute to the language martyrs.
At a security briefing in Dhaka on Thursday (February 20), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali announced that public entry to Shaheed Minar will be allowed from the Palashi side at 12:40 am on Thursday night.
No Explosives Allowed: The DMP has strictly prohibited the entry of any explosive materials in the area.
Large Police Deployment: A heavy police presence will be stationed around Shaheed Minar to maintain order and ensure security.
Extended Vigilance: The police will remain extra alert until 2 pm on Friday (February 21) to prevent any untoward incidents.
Organized Floral Tributes: The public and dignitaries will be allowed to pay their respects in an orderly manner.
"No Security Threat," Says DMP Commissioner
DMP Commissioner Sajjat Ali reassured that there is no known threat of any militant attack or security breach during the observance. He also added that law and order in Dhaka remains stable, except for occasional incidents of mobile phone theft.
With enhanced security and coordination, the nation is set to observe February 21 with respect and solemnity, honoring the martyrs who laid down their lives for linguistic freedom.
