Dhaka, Aug 14 (V7N)- The Dhaka Heritage Cycle Rally was held in a colorful atmosphere on Friday (August 14) to mark the 416th anniversary of the historic city of Dhaka.

The rally began from the historic Dhaka Gate in the morning and ended at Nagar Bhaban. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) organized the reception and cycle rally.

State Minister for Road Transport Habibur Rashid Habib attended the event as the chief guest.

He said there is no alternative to raising awareness among city residents from their respective positions to transform Dhaka into a modern, livable and environmentally friendly city.

The state minister said the government is committed to ensuring the safety of every citizen, protecting young people from drugs and developing Dhaka as a green and environmentally friendly city.

DNCC Administrator Abdus Salam also spoke at the event.

He said many people have failed to develop a spiritual connection with Dhaka because they have not properly embraced the city's history, heritage and culture.

As a result, he said, civic awareness and a sense of responsibility regarding important issues such as waste management, mosquito control, traffic management and overall environmental protection have yet to reach the desired level.

The rally brought together cycling enthusiasts and citizens to highlight Dhaka's rich history, heritage and cultural identity while promoting a cleaner, greener and more livable capital.
