Dhaka, Sept 6 (V7N) – Police in Dhaka have arrested nine individuals and seized 6.7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice,” during a late-night raid at a restaurant in the city’s Baridhara area.

The raid took place at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday at Nexus Café Place in Gulshan’s Baridhara, where police apprehended the suspects and recovered the narcotics from their possession.

Following the seizure, Sub-Inspector Mahmudul Hasan of Gulshan Police Station filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act. Later on Saturday, the accused were produced before a Dhaka court by Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman of the same station.

Police officials said the detainees were part of a drug trafficking network operating in the capital, and the seized substance has been sent for forensic testing. Authorities added that efforts are underway to trace the wider supply chain and identify others involved.

Law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh have intensified their operations against methamphetamine in recent years, citing its growing use among urban youth and its role in cross-border trafficking networks.
