Dhaka, Nov 9 (V7N) — Law enforcement agencies in Dhaka are on high alert ahead of November 13, following threats of protests and roadblocks issued by leaders of the Awami faction who fled during a recent mass uprising.
AIG (Media & PR) H.M. Shahadat Hossain of the Police Headquarters said security forces are actively monitoring the situation using intelligence-based operations. “We are gathering advance information and conducting surveillance to maintain law and order. Any illegal activity, sabotage, or attempt to incite violence will be dealt with immediately through legal measures,” he told reporters on Saturday, November 8.
In recent days, several top leaders of the fleeing faction have reportedly instructed their followers to carry out disruptive and criminal activities in Dhaka. Some have also threatened street blockades via video messages shared on social media platforms, including Facebook.
A senior official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police stated that arrests are being made whenever individuals attempt to organize sudden marches or demonstrations. “While new messages continue to circulate on social media, these pages are under close intelligence surveillance,” the officer added.
Authorities confirmed that special operations are ongoing across all police divisions, with personnel remaining vigilant 24 hours a day. The police emphasized that ensuring public safety and national security is their foremost responsibility.
