Gazipur, Mar 18 (V7N) – Traffic pressure has increased on the Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways in Gazipur due to the Eid pilgrimage. Vehicles are moving slowly at several points as passengers board and alight, and due to higher vehicle density.

Passengers noted that the good condition of the roads has helped ease travel, and police and other law enforcement agencies are actively managing congestion and ensuring safety.

On the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, traffic has slowed at Tongi, College Gate, Board Bazar, and Chandana intersections. At Chandana, vehicles parked on the roadside and passenger loading/unloading have further slowed movement.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka-Tangail highway is experiencing higher traffic near Chandra, Trimor, and surrounding areas. Vehicles are moving slowly from Walton Factory on Nabinagar-Chandra Highway toward Chandra. Authorities warned that traffic could increase further after garment factories close this afternoon, as more people travel home for Eid.

Although severe congestion has not been reported, some passengers have complained about higher fares charged by transport operators during the festival period.

Police said the crowd of homebound workers began forming on Tuesday night after the staged closure of garment factories. Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed along the highways to manage traffic and ensure a smooth Eid journey.
