Dhaka, Jan 10 (V7N) — A mild to moderate cold wave is currently sweeping across 10 districts of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported on Friday. However, daytime temperatures are expected to increase slightly despite the cold wave.
The affected districts include Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Jessore, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Gopalganj, and Moulvibazar. Just a day earlier, a cold wave had affected five districts, but it has now expanded in scope.
Weather Synopsis
The BMD explained that the extension of a subcontinental high-pressure area is influencing the western part of Bangladesh and its adjacent areas. Additionally, a seasonal low-pressure zone persists in the southern Bay of Bengal, with its extension reaching the northern Bay.
Forecast Highlights
Weather Conditions: The weather is expected to remain dry across the country, with partly cloudy skies over the next three days.
Fog: Light to moderate fog may form in some areas from midnight to morning in the next 24 hours.
Temperature Trends:
Night temperatures may rise slightly in the Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, while remaining stable in other areas.
Daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to increase slightly across the country on Saturday (January 11) and Sunday (January 12).
The BMD has advised residents in affected districts to prepare for the chilly conditions, particularly during the night and early morning, while enjoying a slight relief during the day as temperatures climb marginally.
