RAJSHAHI, JUNE 04 (V7N) – The District Detective Branch (DB) police in Rajshahi have arrested a young man and seized a substantial quantity of marijuana in a special anti-drug operation conducted in Nayapara village of Puthia upazila. The arrest took place on Monday, June 3, at approximately 8:35 AM.

The arrested individual has been identified as Md. Fazle Rabbi Hridoy, 23, son of Md. Rahid Molla, also from Nayapara village.

Acting on a confidential tip-off, a DB Police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Mahbub Alam was on anti-narcotics duty in Baneshwar Bazar and surrounding areas at 8:05 AM. They received information that a large quantity of marijuana was being held in a room at the house of one Quddus Molla in Nayapara village.

The DB team launched their operation at 8:10 AM. Upon sensing the police presence, Fazle Rabbi Hridoy attempted to flee but was apprehended. Following his arrest, 57 kilograms of marijuana, meticulously wrapped in Scotch tape within a plastic bag, were discovered and recovered from under his bed in his bedroom.

However, another accused in the same case, Abdur Rahim Molla of Puthia, managed to evade arrest and escape. DB police stated that efforts are currently underway to apprehend him.

A regular case has been filed at Puthia Police Station against both the arrested individual and the absconding suspect under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
