RAJSHAHI, JUNE 04 (V7N) – The intelligence team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Rajshahi division has apprehended two alleged drug traffickers and seized 90 bottles of Phensedyl in an anti-drug operation in Bagmara Upazila, Rajshahi. The illicit cough syrup was found concealed within specially designed compartments in the seat cover and engine of a motorcycle.
The raid was conducted on Tuesday, June 3, in the Moshamil area of Bagmara Police Station, following a confidential tip-off.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Kased Ali, 32, of Telkupi village, Shibganj police station, Chapainawabganj district, and Md. Menazul Islam, 28, of Dilalpur village, Shahbazpur.
Jilalur Rahman, Deputy Director of the DNC Detective Branch in Rajshahi, stated that the arrested individuals had been involved in collecting drugs from border areas for an extended period and subsequently supplying them to Rajshahi and neighboring districts. He highlighted their use of motorcycles equipped with secret compartments inside the seats and engines for drug transportation.
Following the operation, authorities are preparing to file a regular case against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act at Bagmara Police Station. The motorcycle used for transporting the drugs has also been seized.
Rahman reiterated the DNC's commitment to regularly continue their anti-drug campaigns. He urged public cooperation, emphasizing the collective effort required to build a drug-free society.
