Dhaka, Jan 14 (V7N) — With the month of Paush coming to an end, the arrival of Magh is expected to bring a drop in temperatures across Bangladesh. While most parts of the country experienced milder winter conditions this week, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted a slight decrease in temperatures next week, which may increase the intensity of the cold.

According to the Meteorological Department's bulletin issued on Tuesday morning, the extension of the subcontinental high-pressure area is currently influencing West Bengal and adjacent regions, while a seasonal low-pressure system persists over the south Bay of Bengal, extending to the north Bay of Bengal.

The 48-hour forecast predicts a slight drop in night temperatures across the country, while day temperatures are expected to remain stable. Light to moderate fog is also likely in some areas, particularly from late night to early morning.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast suggests that temperatures may continue to fall, with meteorologist Hafizur Rahman indicating the possibility of another cold wave later in January. While the exact date remains uncertain, the last decade of the month could see harsher winter conditions.

Residents are advised to prepare for colder weather in the coming weeks as winter deepens.
