Pabna, Feb 27, (V7N) - The Department of Environment has fined 12 illegal brick kilns in Pabna’s Sadar Upazila a total of Tk 50 lakh in a day-long operation. In addition, four of these illegal brick kilns were completely demolished during the raid.
 
The operation took place on Wednesday, February 26, in the areas of Char Bhabanipur, Char Bangabaria, Bhagirathpur, and Shanikdiar in Sadar Upazila.
 
Confirming the operation, Abdul Gafur, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment in Pabna, stated that the raid was carried out with full cooperation from the district administration, army, police, RAB, and the Fire Service and Civil Defense. The operation was led by the Department’s Monitoring and Enforcement Wing Executive Magistrate (Senior Assistant Secretary) Rezwan-ul-Islam.
 
According to the announcement, 12 brick kilns were fined a total of Tk 50 lakh. These kilns are located in different areas, including Char Bangabaria, Bhabanipur, Shanikdiar, and Bhagirathpur. The fined establishments include M.M.B. Bricks, H.R.M. Bricks, M.S.B. Bricks, and others in Char Bangabaria, and MKB Bricks, S.B. Bricks, and more in other locations.
 
In addition to the fines, four brick kilns were demolished. These include P.M.B. Bricks and A.B. Bricks in Char Bangabaria, SM.B. Bricks, and M.H.B. Bricks in Bhagirathpur.
 
The operation was conducted by the Department of Environment in collaboration with other local authorities, ensuring that the illegal brick kilns did not harm the environment. During the raid, the officers from the Department of Environment, including Assistant Director Abdul Gafur and Inspector Abdul Momin, were present, overseeing the entire operation.
 
This operation was part of the ongoing efforts by the Department of Environment to reduce environmental damage caused by illegal brick kilns, which harm the surrounding environment and agricultural lands. The authorities have also warned other illegal brick kiln operators to cease their operations or face further legal consequences.
