Due to heavy fog, ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were suspended for six hours before they were resumed.
Abdus Salam, assistant manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transportation Corporation's (BIWTC) Aricha terminal, stated that the ferry services were halted at around one in the morning due to significant visibility impairments caused by dense fog.
He said that more than 300 cars, including buses, were waiting to cross the river at both ghats.
Nine ferries at the Paturia and Daulatdia ghats were stuck, and two of them had to anchor in the middle of the river.
Ferry operations later resumed around nine in the morning as the fog began to clear.
