Dhaka, Sep 06 (V7N)-The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has announced the formation of a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms across the country. In a weather bulletin released on Friday, the Met Office warned of temporary light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the country.

The weather forecast predicts rainfall in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, with isolated showers in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Some areas could experience moderate to heavy rainfall, and this stormy weather pattern is likely to continue over the next week.

In addition, the Meteorological Office indicated that temperatures might rise slightly across Bangladesh on Friday, with little change expected in the next 24 hours. However, the temperature may increase slightly by Saturday.

The low-pressure system has formed over the West Central Bay of Bengal and the nearby Northwest Bay of Bengal, while the monsoon axis extends from Rajasthan, India, across Bihar and West Bengal, through northern Bangladesh to Assam. Although the monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh, it remains moderate over the North Bay of Bengal.

The authorities have urged citizens to prepare for rain and potential thunderstorms and to stay updated with weather advisories.
