Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N)- The monsoon axis extending across central Bangladesh to Assam is expected to trigger the development of a low-pressure system over the North Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas within the next 24 hours. This was revealed in the 72-hour weather forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Sunday.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are expected in many parts of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, as well as in some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions. Some regions may also experience moderately heavy rainfall. However, day and night temperatures will remain largely unchanged for the time being.

The Meteorological Department has projected a drop in temperatures starting from Monday, with a potential decrease of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius across the country. Rain with gusty winds or thunder is expected in many parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions on Monday.

By Tuesday, the forecast indicates further drops in day and night temperatures, with the possibility of light to moderate rain in most parts of the country. The rain is likely to continue across Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, as well as many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in some areas.

The five-day extended forecast suggests that the rainy weather trend will persist, signalling more wet days ahead for Bangladesh.
