Dhaka, Nov 03 (V7N)— In a joint operation, five individuals were arrested in Dhaka's Bhashantek and Kafrul areas on Saturday in connection with recent acts of vandalism and arson targeting army and police vehicles. The incident occurred in Kachukhet and Mirpur-14, where unrest erupted during protests by garment factory workers. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the arrests in an official statement.

The detained individuals were identified as Alamgir, Reshma Khatun, Mahfuz Mia, Aminul Islam, and Kazi Russell. Initially held by army personnel, they were interrogated before being transferred to the local police station for further legal proceedings. The ISPR assured that operations to detain individuals involved in such incidents would continue to ensure security.

The unrest on October 31 began when garment workers in Kachukhet demanded outstanding wages and allowances, blocking traffic between Mirpur-14 and the Dhaka cantonment. Clashes ensued when police and army personnel arrived to restore order, resulting in injuries from gunfire and the eventual arson of military and police vehicles.
