Teknaf, July 3 (V7N) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a significant cache of crystal methamphetamine (ice), firearms, ammunition, and an electric rickshaw during an operation in Saburang Dal Para area of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
The operation was conducted on Thursday (July 2) by the Teknaf Battalion (BGB-2), said Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan, commanding officer of the battalion.
He said a group of unidentified individuals was seen travelling from Saburang Bazar towards the Marine Drive road on an electric rickshaw. Upon noticing a temporary BGB check post, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Later, BGB personnel searched the abandoned e-rickshaw and recovered approximately two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice) wrapped in black polythene from under the driver’s seat. Additional searches revealed a G3 rifle, one locally made LG (gun), one G3 rifle magazine, and 13 rounds of ammunition hidden inside the roof structure of the vehicle using concealed methods.
Authorities said the seized drugs, weapons, ammunition, and the e-rickshaw have been taken into custody, and legal procedures are underway regarding the recovery.
BGB officials added that further investigation is ongoing to identify those involved in the smuggling attempt.
