Ukhiya, Sept 11 (V7N) — A Rohingya man sentenced to life imprisonment in a drug case has been arrested by the 8th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
The 26-year-old suspect, identified as Jobayer, son of Ziadul Haque, was arrested during a raid at Block G/4 of Rohingya Camp No. 10 in Ukhiya at around 9:30pm on Wednesday.
According to APBn sources, a case was filed against Jobayer with Teknaf Police Station in 2020 under the Narcotics Control Act. A court later sentenced him to life imprisonment in the case.
Riaz Uddin Ahmed, acting commander of the 8th APBn, said operations to arrest convicts in drug-related cases are continuing.
Jobayer was handed over to Teknaf Police Station for further legal action, he said.
Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam of Teknaf Model Police Station confirmed the arrest.
