Rajshahi, a disturbing trend has emerged as miscreants unleash violence on the region's mango orchards. More than half of these beloved trees have fallen victim to senseless destruction, leaving locals shocked and communities reeling.
 
In Bagmara, Rajshahi, more than half of the mango trees have been cut down by miscreants, causing significant damage without any apparent reason. The affected families claim nearly a lakh taka loss due to the cutting of trees. 
 
The incident took place on Thursday night (May 17) in the Kacharipara Khujipur-Madhupur village of the upazila. The residents of the area were shocked to see such inhumane acts on Friday morning.
 
It has been learned through investigation that Majedur Rahman from Bhobaniganj Mahalla and Fazal Ali from Madhupur village have excavated a pond on 10 bighas of land adjacent to the village under the supervision of neighboring landowner Kader Billah. A few days ago, the pond was leased to local Munataj Ali for fish farming. 
 
Two years ago, the landowners planted over a hundred mango trees on the four sides of the pond. After much care and maintenance, the saplings started to bear mangoes. For several days, no one had gone to the pond. 
 
Friday morning revealed to their sharecropper Fazal that someone had cut down nearly half of the mango trees planted around the pond. Majedur Rahman informed that they had planted fruit-bearing mango trees with high hopes. Now only disappointment and desolation prevail. 
 
They claim to have suffered a loss of nearly a lakh taka. Local villagers including Ershad Ali and Monsur Rahman stated that some disgruntled person had cut down the trees in this manner. The locals were astonished to see the cut-down trees in the morning.
