In a sweeping operation, the APBn police arrested four terrorists of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) from the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, seizing a large quantity of hand grenades, walkie-talkies, weapons, and ammunition.
This information was disclosed in a press briefing at the office of the 14th Armed Police Battalion at 4 PM on Sunday.
The operation was conducted from 3 AM to 6 AM on Sunday in the Goyam Bagan area, outside the barbed-wire fence of Block S-1/B-7 of Rohingya Camp No. 20 in Ukhiya.
The arrested individuals are Amir Hossain (29), son of Din Mohammad of Block H-81 in Rohingya Camp No. 17, Ukhiya; Ziaur Rahman (32), son of Fazal Karim of Block H-100 in the same camp; Syedul Amin (30), son of Abdus Salam of Block C-4 in Rohingya Camp No. 4, Ukhiya; and Md. Harun (22), son of Badsha Mia of Block A-1 in Rohingya Camp No. 7. The detainees were handed over to Ukhiya police station.
Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, the commander of the 14th Armed Police Battalion responsible for the security of the Rohingya camp, confirmed the information.
He also stated that the arrested individuals are members of Myanmar's armed terrorist organization ARSA and are named in multiple cases. There are several cases against them in Ukhiya police station.
The commander said that in the early hours of Sunday, APBn police teams conducted a sweeping operation in Rohingya Camp No. 20 Extension following information that some armed individuals had gathered with the intention of committing crimes. Upon reaching the scene, the criminals fired at the APBn members, who retaliated in self-defense. During the exchange of gunfire, APBn members managed to arrest four miscreants as they attempted to flee.
A search of the ARSA terrorists' hideout led to the recovery of four hand grenades, two single-barreled guns, four one-shooter guns, one locally-made SMG-like one-shooter gun, two walkie-talkies with chargers, 14 spent rifle cartridges, two spent shotgun cartridges, two packets of iron bearing balls, and two machetes.
The APBn commander stated that all the detainees are members of Myanmar's armed terrorist organization ARSA. They are involved in multiple cases including murder, kidnapping, arms dealing, and extortion.
