In a daring raid on a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, APBn police have arrested four ARSA armed terrorists and seized a large cache of grenades, walkie-talkies, weapons, and bullets.
The operation took place early Sunday morning, from 3 am to 6 am, in the S-1/B-7 block of Camp 20 in Ukhiya Upazila, just outside the barbed wire fence.
The armed arrested individuals are identified as: Amir Hossain (29), son of Din Mohammad of H-81 block in Camp 17, Ziauur Rahman (32), son of Fazal Karim of H-100 block in Camp 17, Syedul Amin (30), son of Abdus Salam of C-4 block in Camp 4, Md. Harun (22), son of Badsha Mia of A-1 block in Camp 7, All four were handed over to Ukhiya Police Station.
Confirming the arrests, Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP) of 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBn) deployed in the Rohingya camps, stated that the suspects are members of the Myanmar-based armed terrorist group ARSA and are accused in multiple cases.
SP Hossain further explained that based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of armed individuals gathering for criminal activities in Camp 20 Extension, multiple APBn teams launched a raid on Sunday morning. Upon reaching the scene, the criminals opened fire on the APBn personnel. In self-defense, the APBn officers retaliated and managed to apprehend four suspects during the exchange of gunfire.
A thorough search of the ARSA armed terrorists' hideout yielded the following items: 4 grenades, 2 single-barrel guns, 4 one-shooter guns
1 locally made SMG-like one-shooter gun, 2 walkie-talkies with chargers, 14 rifle bullet shells, 2 shotgun cartridge shells, 2 packets of iron bearing balls, 2 machetes.
SP Hossain asserted that all the arrested individuals are members of the Myanmar-based armed armed terrorist group ARSA and face multiple charges, including murder, kidnapping, possession of illegal arms, and extortion.
