In Jhalokathi, a tragic incident occurred where a rickshaw driver named Mahfuz was murdered in a trivial altercation. His mother, Mukta Begum (40), and father, Amir Hossen (52), were seriously injured in the same attack. The incident took place at 11 AM on Saturday in a market area of the city. In this incident, the police have apprehended one suspect.
 
Police and relatives have informed that there was a conflict between two individuals named Kabir Hossen and Amir Ali over the matter of a cutter (Da) in the Bikan area. locales indicate that four days ago, Kabir Hossen assaulted Amir Ali, breaking his hand.
 
Upon filing a case at the Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station regarding this incident, Kabir, along with Saddam and 5-6 accomplices, stormed into Amir Ali's residence on Saturday morning. They attacked Amir Ali and his wife, leaving them injured. At that moment, when Amir Ali's son Mahfuz intervened to prevent their, Mahfuz was brutally attacked and seriously injured with a sharp weapon to his chest and head.
 
Locals rescued three injured individuals and rushed them to the Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital, where Mahfuz was pronounced dead upon arrival. Amir Ali and Mukta Begum, in critical condition, were referred to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for advanced treatment. The police visited the scene of the incident and the district hospital to prepare a detailed report on the condition of the deceased.
 
One person named Mostafa has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
