Dhaka, Sept 7 (V7N): A total of eight murder cases have been filed in Feni against 3,037 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, for the killing of nine people during the anti-discrimination student movement in the district.

Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station, confirmed the registration of the cases.

Among the accused in one case are Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Nizam Uddin Hazari, the former MP of Feni-2 constituency.

The latest case, filed on Friday night, was initiated by Ashia Begum, who accused several high-profile figures of killing her husband Zafar Ahmad during the student movement on August 5 in the district town.

Former MP of Feni-3, Lt General (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury, was named as the main accused in this case, along with 205 other individuals, while 150 unnamed suspects were included.

Earlier, on August 4, another victim, Mahbubul Hasan Masum, was killed during the protests. A case regarding his death was filed on September 4, naming Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal among the 162 accused, with 500 unnamed individuals also listed.

Other cases connected to the movement include the murders of Shihab, Shravan, Masud, Sabuj, and Sakib, with hundreds of individuals named and accused.

On August 4, armed men allegedly associated with the Awami League opened fire on students protesting in the Mohipal area of Feni, resulting in nine fatalities according to eyewitnesses and CCTV footage.
