Oct 14 V7N- A special task force team conducted an operation in the markets of Jhalokathi to control the prices of essential commodities. During the operation, two traders were fined 35,000 BDT for failing to maintain proper sales receipts and for excessive stockpiling of goods. Many others were warned as part of the same operation.

On the afternoon of Monday, October 14, the special task force committee, formed by the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the market, carried out this operation to regulate the prices of goods. The operation was conducted at wholesale depots as well as retail vegetable and grocery shops. The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Md. Abirul Islam from the Jhalokathi district administration.

Along with the operation, traders were instructed to maintain and provide sales receipts, display price lists openly, and refrain from selling or supplying goods without a valid trade license. Present at the operation were the Secretary of the Special Task Force Committee and Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection in Jhalokathi, Safia Sultana, District Food Controller BM Shafiqul Islam, and other members of the committee.

Executive Magistrate Md. Abirul Islam of the Jhalokathi District Commissioner’s office stated that these operations by the special task force team would continue to ensure control over the prices of essential commodities.
