Khulna, Nov 21 (V7N)- The seven-day Khulna Divisional Book Fair will be held from November 26 to December 2 at the Divisional Commissioner's office premises. The National Book Center is organizing the fair under the guidance of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and in collaboration with the Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office. All this information was given at a press briefing held at the meeting room of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office today (Thursday) at noon.
During the press briefing, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif said, "Books are the bearers of knowledge. Therefore, there is no alternative to regular reading habits to build a knowledge-based nation. Students of educational institutions should be interested in e-books as well as printed books. It is expected that the Divisional Book Fair will play a positive role in bringing back the reading habit among the people.
It was informed at the program that the book fair will start from 3 pm every day and will continue till 9:30 pm. The fair will start at 10 am on weekends and will continue till 9:30 pm. Out of the 80 stalls of the fair, 60 will display and sell books of publishers from Dhaka. In addition, 10 stalls will be allocated to publishers from Khulna division, four stalls from various government offices and two stalls will be allocated to members of law enforcement agencies. There will be a media corner for media workers, a writers' corner for poets and writers and food stalls on the fair premises. During the fair, discussions, seminars, new book cover unveilings, thematic essay readings, cultural programs and quizzes for children and teenagers and other competitions will be organized on the stage located on the fair premises. The fair will be inaugurated at 3 pm on November 26.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Hussain Shawkat, Principal Librarian-cum-Deputy Director of the Divisional Public Library Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, and media personnel from print and electronic media working in Khulna were present at the press briefing.
