On January 9, local traders in Baukathi Bazar observed a symbolic one-hour closure of shops and organized a human chain and protest program to demand swift action from law enforcement. Prominent local leaders and members of the Baukathi Bazar Businessmen Association voiced their dissatisfaction with the investigation's progress and urged authorities to apprehend those responsible. The family of the victim, along with hundreds of locals, participated in the protest, underscoring the community's demand for accountability and justice.

The incident occurred on January 6, when Sudeb Halder, a 26-year-old businessman, was killed while returning home after closing his shop. The gruesome nature of the murder has left the local community shaken, and the pressure on authorities to resolve the case and restore public confidence is mounting.
