Jhalakathi, Mar 13 (V7N) – A comprehensive Vitamin 'A' Plus campaign is set to launch in Jhalakathi on March 15, aiming to administer vital supplements to 87,021 children across the district. The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Jhalakathi Civil Surgeon's meeting room on Thursday.

The campaign, organized by the Public Health Nutrition Institute and the National Nutrition Service under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will target children in four upazilas and two municipalities of Jhalakathi district.

According to the press briefing, preparations are complete to provide Vitamin 'A' Plus capsules to 10,413 children aged 6 to 11 months and 76,608 children aged 12 to 59 months.

Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, a medical officer attached to the Civil Surgeon's Office, provided detailed information to journalists about the efficacy of Vitamin 'A' Plus and its role in preventing various diseases. Jhalakathi Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humaun Kabir served as the chief commentator.

Journalists from Jhalakathi were also present at the meeting. Dr. Kabir emphasized the importance of disease prevention and the national Vitamin 'A' Plus initiative. "On March 15, children will be given Vitamin 'A' Plus at various locations throughout Jhalakathi district," he stated.

He urged all residents to ensure that every child in their respective areas receives the supplement and that no child is overlooked. The Civil Surgeon announced that Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman will formally inaugurate the campaign on March 15.
