Jhalokathi, Sept 13 (V7N) — Daily prayers and Friday congregational prayers at Baytun Nur Jame Mosque in Keota village, Rajapur Upazila, are becoming increasingly difficult for local worshippers due to severe structural deficiencies.
Locals reported that the mosque currently operates in a small, aging wooden room. The roof is riddled with holes, allowing rainwater to seep in, while extreme heat makes the interior unbearable during summer. Despite these conditions, residents continue their daily five-time prayers and Friday prayers under strenuous circumstances.
Saiful Islam, the local land donor, said, “I donated 63 percent of my land seeking Allah’s pleasure. Our area urgently needs a full-fledged Islamic complex with a new mosque. We appeal for support from affluent citizens and the Bangladeshi diaspora to make this possible.”

He added, “Anyone who contributes, no matter how small, will be rewarded in this world and the Hereafter for participating in the construction of Allah’s house.”
Worshippers emphasized that due to the region’s remote and underdeveloped nature, they have yet to receive any government or private assistance. They urged all devout Muslims, both at home and abroad, to extend help.
