Rampal, Dec 07 (V7N) – A destitute family in Bagerhat’s Rampal upazila has received a newly constructed house provided on behalf of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman. The home was handed over to speech-impaired beggar Dipali Rani Shil, who has long been living in extreme hardship with her two speech-impaired daughters.
The house was built under the initiative of Bagerhat district BNP Joint Convenor and nomination aspirant for the Mongla–Rampal–Fakirhat constituency, Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam. He formally inaugurated the new home on Saturday afternoon, cutting the ribbon alongside the family. Local BNP leaders, activists, and residents were present during the handover.
Dipali, a speech-impaired and abandoned woman who survives by begging, previously lived in a dilapidated hut that failed to protect her from rain, heat, and cold. Receiving a new house brought her to tears. She expressed deep gratitude, saying she blesses Faridul Islam for giving her shelter and prays for his wellbeing, hoping he continues to stand beside vulnerable families like hers.
Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam said he felt a moral responsibility to support Dipali after learning of her situation. He explained that the initiative was taken on behalf of Tarique Rahman, who, he said, has been supporting homeless people across Bangladesh and encouraging party leaders to do the same in their respective areas. Faridul Islam noted that those in privileged positions should contribute to their communities, emphasizing that society thrives only when everyone stands beside one another, especially the most vulnerable.
The gesture has drawn appreciation from local residents, who praised the effort as a meaningful form of social responsibility and compassionate leadership.
